GET OUT OF MY HEAD, NOT JUST A CATCHY SONG
Local singer sheds a light on codependency through a funny and energetic tune
OTTAWA-GATINEAU (August 17, 2019) – The NCR-based singer Adina U-Birea announces the release of her new single, Get Out of My Head, #notjustacatchysong.
“Get Out of My Head is a funny and refreshing musical guide on how to be our authentic selves, instead of looking for idols and other distractions,” says Adina.
A high-energy combination of disco-pop and funk, Get Out of My Head is accompanied by an entertaining and quirky music video. The tongue-in-cheek video conveys a deep message on overcoming obsessive love and codependency by strengthening one’s relationship with themselves.
“The video contains strategically placed symbols (i.e. the puppet controlled by two hands but no face, the support system, the spinning ritual, the obsession that keeps coming back), as well as romantic clichés (falling in love with a fantasy, rebound, love at first sight, the one). The lyrics also contain local and Canadian references to the Heart and Crown and Yellowknife.” (Adina U-Birea)
Get Out of My Head is part of a complex project: a psychological drama authored by Adina, entitled “Blind Alleys Lead Home,” where singer Katida, known as the person unluckiest in love in one province and a half, struggles to solve the mystery of the repetitive roadblocks appearing on her path to love.
The instruments are recorded live by talented Ottawa musicians, who also contributed to song arrangements and backing vocals: Juan Miguel Gómez Montant (guitar and bass, playing with PepTides), Renaud de Grandmont and Mark Thomas (drums and piano, both playing with Party Sergeant Band).
